About London Group Therapy

London Group Therapy has been successfully offering privately funded affordable psychological therapies since 2009. Initially founded by Dr Richard Smith, BSc, MSc, Psy.D, C.Psychol who is a HCPC registered Chartered Psychologist.

Dr Smith has a wealth of NHS experience dealing with complex mental health issues in secondary care services. He also works in private practice. He is informed by a cognitive behavioural, psychodynamic and an existential approach to therapy. Dr Smith has a doctorate in Counselling Psychology, has a Masters degree in Occupational Psychology and is an expert in existential dreamwork and analysis. He is also founding partner of the London Psychologist Clinic ( www.londonpsychologistclinic.co.uk ).

Over the years we have been able to help countless individuals lead more fulfilling lives. We run open groups that take place throughout the year so individuals can join at anytime of the year.

All our therapists belong to the BPS, HCPC or both. Our ethos is that a one-size model of psychotherapy does not suit all therefore we believe in a flexible integrative approach drawing from cognitive, psychodynamic, mindfulness practice and existential psychotherapies.

We welcome NHS referrals for group and one to one therapy.

Private Health Insurance for individual therapy:

We can accept most private health insurance referrals depending on your level of cover. We would be happy to talk directly to the insurance company on your behalf (Cigna, PruHealth, Standard Life, AVIVA, AXA PPP, Allianz, BUPA international). Note: In the event that your insurer fails to cover sessions, it is your responsibility to cover the cost. Please read your policy details carefully and call your provider if unclear.
